Catherine Black
Owner/Publisher
I was born in France and left my country at 17 in search of the "American Dream". I traveled around the world backpacking with my best friend and ended up in San Diego. I fell in love with the city and the American people's positive outlook on life and business. I now have 2 amazing children, a successful magazine, a Super Team and Friends that I adore! Viva La Vie!
Greg Amat
General Manager of Operations
I am a San Diego Native and youngest of 7. I've lived/worked in many places and San Diego is my mother ship! I love to play tennis and play better in my head than in reality. Traveling is my weakness and there aren't too many places left on my wish list!
Kacy Weaver

I'm from a small town in the Central Valley where I grew up eating oranges off the tree's and riding horses through fields. After high school I found myself in Santa Barbara having a lot of fun and studying hard at UCSB. I later moved to San Diego for what was supposed to be my one year to "figure things out”... 3 years later I'm living in North Park and loving life!

I've been in San Diego almost all of my life and love the good weather. My husband and 3 boys keep me busy and entertained. Working for Community Magazine is also like a family; we argue, make-up, and have a couple of black sheep walking around. I won't mention any names... but Greg is my brother and he is one of them. Don't tell him!

I am originally from Los Angeles and the youngest of 6. I moved to San Diego for College and stayed because San Diego is such an awesome place to live. I am an outdoor enthusiast, I love to play all sports and am average at best at most of them. I am the father of a wonderful boy. I have been in sales for more than 10 years and firmly believe that meeting people and helping to grow their business is my true passion!

Born and raised in Southern California, I officially made North County San Diego my home 3 years ago. As a graduate from SDSU, I’ve had the opportunity to live in several neighborhoods of America’s Finest City… but won’t tell you my favorite, as each area offers so much! Professionally, I have excelled in marketing/sales for over 10 years – from fundraising, to PR & event coordination, management to marketing and advertising. I love meeting with local business owners strategizing, developing & enhancing marketing plans through a vehicle that ultimately increases business and boosts the bottom line…. (Hello, Community Magazines!) I have a wonderful husband, 2 great dogs; enjoy breaking a sweat as much as relaxing; reading, cooking and traveling. That’s me!

Design Associate/Photographer
I am originally from Canada where I studied photography at University of Victoria, British Columbia. Upon graduating I moved to Los Angeles with nothing but my camera in my hands and stilettos on my feet. In addition to owning my wedding photography company helenecornell.com, I also own bootyboudoir.com, which makes my life full of creativity and empowerment. I have a lot of good dance moves and have appeared on Soul Train several times during my twenties.

I grew up in the Midwest (Chicago area) and relocated to San Diego in 1984. I met Catherine Black through a mutual friend in 1993, when Catherine was looking for a graphic artist to help her start a little project she had in mind called "The Community Magazine". Fifteen years later that little project has grown beyond my wildest expectations, and continues to grow today, expanding in both territories and distribution. It's been a fun, exciting ride and I look forward to the next 15 years. I currently live in Orange County with my wife and 13-year-old daughter.

I have lived in Germany, France and now here in San Diego. I am trilingual or zero-lingual... depends on my (fluctuating) lunatic IQ. I love, really love, to eat and bake cakes (because I want to eat them) & exercise (because I want to eat cakes).
I joined the Graphic Department of Community Magazine to avoid eating cakes all day.... and also, admittedly because they are an unusually cool team! Plus, they all like cake!

I was raised in Hampton Bays and made it to San Diego in '89. I spend as much time as I can on the water, enjoying our bays and coastlines from my catamaran. A recognized photographer since high school, I have made it my living for the past ten years.
Nicole Dauphinee
Sales Representative
I graduated with a Communications and Business degree from the University of San Diego and was recruited by the San Diego Reader where I rose up the ranks to become one of their top sales reps. It was there that I made myself invaluable to my clients by hosting a weekly segment on KUSI-TV to promote San Diego businesses. After two years living across the pond in County Tipperary, Ireland, I am thrilled to be back in San Diego at Community Magazine. If you don't find me with my husband and three daughters in tow... you'll find me in North County with a surfboard, surfing and eating a #2 at Pipe's Cafe in Cardiff!
